What’s great?
Is it Grandma’s best cookie from her best ever batch?
A phenomenal play, a spectacular catch?
A grand slammin’ swat in a big tennis match?
Your favorite pants mended with a fashionable patch?
Or what if these things were a speck in the fingernail
on a model of God in one-to-infinite scale.
What’s glorious?
A sunrise, a paycheck, a half a day off?
A medicinal lozenge that eases your cough?
A fabric, a sports car, a musical note?
A night in a limo, a day in a boat?
Or is glory for one who is worthy of praise,
the Creator, the Maker, the Ancient of Days.
What’s power?
A mayor, a jet, a passionate speech?
A fifty foot wave crashing down on the beach?
A weapon, a chainsaw, electrical shock?
A mind-numbing pinch from a fictional Spock?
Or the very real God from whom all life has flowed,
whose face, if you saw it, would make you explode!
