Knock knock. Who’s there?
A child of the one true God.
Knock knock. Who’s there?
A sinner forgiven and flawed.
Knock knock. Who’s there?
A being created to worship the king
to join in communion and eternally sing
“To the One on the throne and the Lamb on his right –
all blessing and honor and glory and might.”
An heir to the promise, born to die and to live,
made to share and to suffer and thrive and forgive,
knowing Jesus’s name so to bask in his beauty,
loving God and his children to accomplish our duty.
Without God’s breath of life, just a pile of dirt.
Praying for all of God’s people, one who is fully alert
to know him more, always more, seeking the depths of his face
so as not to be deceived by the enemy who tries to take his place.
A purpose predestined to conform to his Son,
to serve in his army in the battle he’s won,
to give light to the world, to those stuck in their ways
to be saved and made new and to love and to praise
Knock knock. Who’s there?
A stranger. Lost, in the dark, on the verge of surrender.
Knock knock. Who’s there?
You are. An oak planted by God for the display of his splendor.
